So...

While visiting the folks over xmas, we learned of their shitty property management and lack of proper shoveling/maintenance of snow/ice covered walks.

We complained about it, and [info]sophy convinced my mom to be the squeaky wheel. They went to the office, but no-one was in.

Anyways, I get a call last night from my sister.

Well 2 calls. The first was during my work hours. And she was like "Dad's injured... blah blah other stuff... call me back"

I got home and not long after that, a 2nd call with her usual guilt tripping sort of "I called at your alotted time and I just wanna see how my lil bro is doing and please call back..."

And I was gonna do that, but then the way she did that was her usual manipulations so I said "no". But upon further reflection I realized I need to vacuum tonight and am calling K :) tonight. So I should call Holly (my sister) last night. So I did.

Fortunately she wasn't as manipulative and was less talky than I expected. So that was nice. We had a decent conversation.

It was only 12 minutes due to phone battery dying :( (we need new phone battery, total suckage it dying all the time).

Anyways, I guess Dad was walking and slipped forward, cut up his hands and his knee is kinda fucked up and had some ice in his chest or something. I don't know the timing, but I know that he only slept 2 hours, and also at some point went to the ER due to chest pain.

Fortunately no heart issues. But he does have torn ligaments or cartilage or something with his ribcage. So it's causing massive pain.

Holly said he's not sleeping well, and they gave him Tylenol 3 and he's not used to it, so he was all doped up rambly and talked for a half hour on the phone with her (and he's not very chatty usually)... But apparently it's not enough and she told him to ask for more, because if he's only getting a couple hours of sleep, he's not getting the pain killed enough.

I guess an insurance company called, and he told them he wasn't buying anything and they were like "NO, you DO want to talk to us -- we're going to pay for everything, Doctor, Medication, etc..."

Now, while that's good they're doing that, 1) it's an ulterior motive: "don't sue us!" 2) You shouldn't have had my dad be in this fucking position, asswipes, if you did your job properly as a mgmt company.

Sadly, it's a generally nice apartment aside from the shit property maintenance.

STill... Dad is 70 years old. He doesn't need this shit now.

Maybe he'll have some left over T3!!!! hahahaha (just can't let my sister near it. she's a fiend! actually she's done good staying away from it, thankfully... I just wish she could find something that works for her pain without getting her addicted.)

So that's my little story from last night!

Thanks... I'm sure it will. Just sad it had to happen.

Just another reminder of mortality and my folks continuing aging process.

SO........... let's not think about that!

They should have given your dad something better for pain than T3. Vicodin, at least, damn. Does your sister suffer from chronic pain? I've heard some people say that Suboxone is good for pain and it's not as addictive as other opiates. I don't have any personal experience with it, though. In any case, I hope your dad recovers soon! My mom is in her 70's, too.
