1) Gotta love the headline:
Authorities Believe ELF Members Committed Arson on 'Street of Dreams'
I didn't know ELF was some sort of membership club. Where do I sign up?
2) The initial report I linked to didn't discuss it, but in the ABC article, at the end of page 1, they have this blurb:
The subdivision was built near the headwaters of Bear Creek, home to the endangered chinook salmon, the Tacoma News Tribune reported. Opponents of the development had argued that the subdivision could pollute Bear Creek and endanger the fish. There were also concerns about some nearby wetlands.
While I disagree with the headline's faulty premise, this article seemed more balanced than one would expect. Giving the reasons for an action is usually not done, even for non-terror related incidents. It didn't seem to scream OMG TERROR RUN!!! That said, I don't know how accurate the FBI stats are, but overall, I'm glad the article wasn't running in fear mode. |
